They became frequent partners-in-crime, often teaming up to try to take down the X-Men. Tom, who has the ability to project energy through plants, has never been on great terms with his X-Men cousin, since Banshee won the family inheritance, as well as the heart of Maeve, a woman whom Tom had affections for. While he a member of the X-Men, Cain forms a tight friendship with Sammy, always fiercely protecting him. Once all eight "Exemplars" become united, the gods intend for each of them to rule over 1/8th of humanity, and then go to war with each other, at which point the winner is established as the most powerful. Transformed into a human Juggernaut, Xavier was buried in the resulting cave in. In Amazing X-Men Vol. Juggernaut is so powerful it is hard to believe a team of X-Men could handle him on their own.
